• October 27, 2026 – Registration for SAP-C03 opens in all currently supported languages.

• November 16, 2026 – Last day to take the current SAP-C02 exam.

• November 17, 2026 – SAP-C03 becomes generally available.

SAP-C03 will be available in all languages currently supported by SAP-C02 at launch.

Who Is This Certification For?

SAP-C03 is designed for experienced architects who give expert guidance across multiple applications and projects in complex environments.

It is well suited for:

• Solutions Architects designing enterprise-grade cloud systems

• Cloud Architects leading multi-account governance strategies

• Infrastructure Architects implementing modern resilience and security patterns

• Technical leads guiding teams on cloud-native and AI-integrated architectures

AWS recommends at least two years of experience using AWS services to design and implement cloud solutions. Candidates should be able to evaluate application requirements, make architectural recommendations, and guide teams across cloud-native, serverless, and AI-integrated architectures.

For employers and AWS Partners, the certification provides confidence that architects have validated skills across both traditional infrastructure design and modern AI-integrated cloud architectures.

What’s New in SAP-C03?

The updated exam retains the core architectural competencies of SAP-C02 while refreshing task statements and skills to reflect current industry practices.

• Generative AI and Agentic AI

  • SAP-C03 adds 11 skills related to designing generative AI integrations. Candidates can expect coverage of Amazon Bedrock, AI agent architectures with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), Bedrock Guardrails for content filtering, and human-oversight workflows for AI operations.

• Resilience Engineering

  • The exam expands its focus on resilience through services and patterns such as AWS Fault Injection Service, AWS Resilience Hub, AWS Application Recovery Controller, and automated runbooks with AWS Systems Manager.

• Cloud-Native Architecture Patterns

  • Seven new skills cover modern architecture patterns, including serverless data pipelines, durable workflows using AWS Step Functions, service mesh with Amazon VPC Lattice and Amazon ECS Service Connect, container image security, multi-tenant architectures, and real-time data architectures.

• DevSecOps and Observability

  • SAP-C03 introduces six skills related to DevSecOps and observability, including pipeline vulnerability scanning, multi-account deployment pipelines, container monitoring, AI/ML metrics monitoring, and synthetic and real-user monitoring.

• Data, Analytics, and Cryptography

  • New coverage includes data lakehouse architectures with AWS Lake Formation and Apache Iceberg, real-time and batch analytics pipelines, cross-account data sharing with AWS Clean Rooms, and post-quantum cryptography using AWS KMS with ML-DSA and ML-KEM.

SAP-C03 is organized into five domains:

1. Cloud-native architecture design and implementation

2. Security, compliance, and governance

3. Cost-optimized architecture design

4. Resilience, migration, and business continuity

5. Operational excellence and automation

Should You Take SAP-C02 or SAP-C03?

Your choice should depend on your preparation progress and certification goals.

Take SAP-C02 by November 16, 2026 if you are already prepared and want to earn the certification sooner. Certifications earned through SAP-C02 remain active through their original expiration date.

Wait for SAP-C03 if you want an exam that validates modern cloud-native, generative AI, agentic AI, DevSecOps, and resilience engineering skills alongside traditional AWS architecture competencies. Registration opens on October 27, 2026, and delivery begins November 17, 2026.
